NARI’s mission is to advance and promote the remodeling industry’s professionalism, product and vital public purpose. When you hire a NARI member company, rest assured that your remodeler will adhere to these core values and the code of ethics.

Selecting a remodeling contractor can be a challenge. NARI members adhere to core values and the Code of Ethics, which serves as a key differentiator between NARI member companies and non-members.

Each member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry is pledged to observe high standards of honestly, integrity and responsibility in the conduct of business.

Chapter members shall agree to comply with the NARI Code of Ethics.

By promoting in good faith only those products and services which are known to be   functionally and economically sound, and which are known to be consistent with objective standards of health and safety;

By making all advertising and sales promotion factually accurate, avoiding those practices which tend to mislead or deceive the customer.

By writing all contracts and warranties such that they comply with federal, state, and local laws.

By promptly acknowledging and taking appropriate action on all customer complaints.

By refraining from any act intended to restrain trade or suppress competition.

By obtaining and retaining insurance as required by federal, state, and local authorities.

By obtaining and retaining licensing and/or registration as required by federal, state, and local authorities.

By taking appropriate action to preserve the health and safety of employees, trade contractors, clients and the public.


Chapter Purpose

To promote the common business interests of those engaged in the industry. 

To encourage ethical conduct, good business practices and professionalism in the industry. 

To foster, by all legal means, the common purposes of its members.   

To sponsor educational programs and activities for the benefit and enlightenment of its members.

To conduct programs to inform the public of the need for, and the advantages of, maintaining homes and buildings in good condition, and thereby improve the housing and building inventory of the community.

To promote such legislation and regulations, which can help, stimulate remodeling and to promote corrective action for those laws, rules, or regulations which tend to stifle or impede the industry.

To support and encourage other agencies to train a skilled labor force for the industry.

To conduct or engage in all lawful activities in furtherance of the stated purposes or those incidental to them.


STANDARDS OF PRACTICE

it should be noted that these standards are not in any way intended to infringe upon the individual business's right to sell or advertise its products and services at whatever prices it chooses.  In fact, they are designed to encourage trade and to promote substantive competition for the benefit of all citizens.  Members should also be aware that compliance with these standards does not alleviate them of the responsibility for additional compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they relate to advertising, selling, and servicing practices, including licensing where applicable.  Should any part of these Standards or of the Code of Ethics stand in conflict with such laws or regulations, only those conflicting parts shall be rendered null and void, the remaining parts continue in full force.
